Lubbock is 2-8 against Coronado since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lubbock Westerners will be staying on the road to face off against the Coronado Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Lubbock was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Estacado. While losing is never fun, Lubbock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 814th, while Estacado is ranked 281st).
Meanwhile, Coronado's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 88-54 defeat at the hands of Monterey. Coronado has not had much luck with Monterey recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Lubbock's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Lubbock came up short against Coronado when the teams last played back in January, falling 56-51. Can Lubbock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
