Baseball Recap: Westmont Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bulls College Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westmont). They blew past the Bulls College Prep Bulls 26-6 on Saturday. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Alex Meyer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last two games. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

In other batting news, Rocco Damato was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ricky Yenkin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

Westmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the tenth in a row for Westmont, bringing their record up to 20-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Bulls College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Westmont will challenge Rochelle Zell Jewish at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Bulls College Prep, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Intrinsic at 5:30 p.m. on the 13th.
