The Hudson Hawks will head out to take on the Auburn Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hudson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Auburn's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hudson had taken Groton-Dunstable down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-3.

Anthony Moura put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 7.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Thomas Roush made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases. Blake Freitas was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Auburn entered their contest against Tantasqua Regional on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rockets took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (11), the Rockets still had to take the loss.
Owen Morrow and Jayden Ortiz stepped up to the plate in a big way. Morrow went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Ortiz got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Friedland, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
The loss was their first at home, dropping their record down to 5-5. As for Hudson, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
Hudson couldn't quite finish off Auburn in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
