The Morro Bay Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Paso Robles Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Paso Robles took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Morro Bay, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Morro Bay beat Orcutt Academy 52-48.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morro Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucas Cords, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cords has scored all season. Jake Falat was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Paso Robles pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Santa Maria by a score of 68-66. Paso Robles has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The win got Morro Bay back to even at 13-13. As for Paso Robles, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.
Morro Bay came out on top in a nail-biter against Paso Robles when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 58-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morro Bay since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
