Baseball Recap: Lawton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Classen SAS

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawton). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Classen SAS Comets on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolverines needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Corbyn Swift was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Qynn Plata, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lawton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lawton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-21 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Classen SAS, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawton will take on Riverside Indian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight. As for Classen SAS, they will face off against Star-Spencer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
