The Edmeston Central Panthers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Canajoharie Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edmeston Central has nine straight victories, Canajoharie has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Edmeston Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in January. They enjoyed a cozy 54-38 win over Franklin Central. Given Edmeston Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Franklin Central is ranked 538th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Canajoharie came up short against Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville on Friday and fell 58-46. Canajoharie has not had much luck with Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Edmeston Central's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Canajoharie, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Edmeston Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Canajoharie when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory.
