The Bentley Phoenix are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Athenian Owls at 4:30 p.m. on February 6th. Bentley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1048th, while the Owls are ranked 316th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-46, which was the final score in Bentley's tilt against the Jayhawks on Saturday. Bentley has not had much luck with the Jayhawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Athenian's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to International 57-53.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Evan Lucas, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Surya Devasenapathy, who scored 13 points.
Bentley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Athenian, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.
Things could have been worse for Bentley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-45 loss to the Owls in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Bentley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
