The La Jolla Vikings will face off against the High Tech SD Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Jolla will aim to continue their six-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Thursday, La Jolla got the win against Hoover by a conclusive 24-12. Considering the Vikings have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacey Taylor was a standout: she went 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ellie Thomson, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: La Jolla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, High Tech SD was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Kearny.
Lucia Williams put in work no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, High Tech SD got a big performance out of Grace Gallagher, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Nina Asnani was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
La Jolla's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for High Tech SD, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
High Tech SD's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: La Jolla has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for High Tech SD, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given La Jolla's sizable advantage in that area, the Storm will need to find a way to close that gap.
La Jolla got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against High Tech SD by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
