After flying high against the Falls City Tigers on Friday, the Syracuse Rockets came back down to earth. Syracuse was the victim of a rough 53-33 loss at the hands of Fort Calhoun on Saturday. Syracuse was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fort Calhoun apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Fort Calhoun found their leader in underclassman Maelie Nelson, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Ansley Elofson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Syracuse's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fort Calhoun, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Syracuse will take on Johnson County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Calhoun, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Douglas County West at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. Douglas County West and Fort Calhoun are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
