The Sparrows Point Pointers will head out on the road to take on New Town at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Sparrows Point is ranked 66th, while New Town is ranked 54th).
Sparrows Point unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 50-33 bruising from Catonsville.
Meanwhile, New Town stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Western Tech & Environmental Science 64-36 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win New Town has posted since December 20, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Town to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nialah Mingo, who scored 17 points. Nasia Hart was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Sparrows Point's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for New Town, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
Sparrows Point took a serious blow against New Town when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 61-19. Can Sparrows Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
