The Grant Park Dragons lost against the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Grant Park received a tough blow as they fell 35-20 to Grace Christian Academy. Grant Park has struggled against Grace Christian Academy recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Grant Park still got an impressive performance from Alejandra Maldonado, who scored eight points along with eight steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Maldonado posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Marcotte, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Grace Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Natalie Dalton dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds and Lexi Salazar scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Dalton hasn't dropped below two steals for 17 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Dandurand, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Grant Park's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Grace Christian Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-18.
Grant Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Momence at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Momence will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Grant Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grace Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Gardner-South Wilmington at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
