The Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines lost against the Mathews Blue Devils back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Carver College and Career Academy took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carver College and Career Academy in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Carver College and Career Academy had strong showings from Ianaisia Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds, and AJ Sykes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. Washington is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Venus Jenkins, who scored no points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Carver College and Career Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Mathews, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver College and Career Academy will take on the Royal Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. King & Queen Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Mathews, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
