OXFORD, Miss. -
Senatobia (Miss.) was defeated by
Lafayette (Oxford, Miss.), 23-7.
The Commodores were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a
Brandon Mack touchdown pass to
Colby Terrell in the second quarter.
Lafayette expanded its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. LHS scored once in the quarter on a field goal by
Ryan Holland.
Mack played well for the Oxford school in the victory. The senior threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.
The Warriors'
Tevin Wooten played well. The sophomore running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 12 on the year.
Senatobia's lone touchdown came on an 85-yard run by Wooten in the first quarter.
The Commodores had given up an average of 9.1 points prior to the contest. The seven points that SHS ended with were well below its average of 19.6 coming into the game.
Lafayette also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 48-8.
The win was a nice bounce back for LHS, which lost to New Albany last week, 10-7.
Lafayette (8-2) will play a 4A Region 2 game against North Pontotoc next week, while Senatobia (3-6) will take on Rosa Fort also in a 4A Region 2 game.
