Kennebunk has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Westbrook Blue Blazes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-30, which was the final score in Kennebunk's tilt against Brunswick on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kennebunk in their matchups with Brunswick: they've now lost seven in a row.
Even though Westbrook has not done well against York recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Westbrook came out on top in a nail-biter against York and snuck past 58-55. Westbrook's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Westbrook got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylar Hodge out in front who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kylie Young , who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Kennebunk bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Westbrook, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Kennebunk came up short against Westbrook in their previous matchup back in January, falling 55-50. Can Kennebunk avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
