West Jersey - Liberty recap September 24, 2013
Robbinsville was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in West Jersey - Liberty. The Ravens beat Burlington City 27-18 earlier in the week.
Cinnaminson moved up to 215 from 276 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to move up by beating Northern Burlington 19-13.
Brad Hawtorne was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 34 carries, he ran for 184 yards as Cinnaminson topped Palmyra. Teammate Aaron Elly. added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
Shabazz was the best wideout in West Jersey - Liberty this week as the Scotties beat the Panthers. Shabazz tallied 4 receptions for 78 yards.
Hawtorne put up the best numbers through the air as Mario Patrizi's team bested the Greyhounds. He had a total of 8 completions for 33 yards. Hawtorne's favorite target this week was Michael Jones, who caught 3 passes for 12 yards.
Bordentown's Austin Pinkerton and Shabazz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Pinkerton has thrown for 142 yards this season, while Shabazz has 5 catches for 104 yards. Hawtorne from the Pirates leads the league in rushing with 299 yards.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Stephen Perry's team takes on Delran. The Scotties' offense has racked up 66 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Bears have allowed only 35 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Delran takes on Bordentown. Pete Miles' team is in fifth place, while the Scotties are in first place.
Bordentown and Palmyra played the closest game in the league this week, with Bordentown eventually emerging with a 33-27 victory. Jahmire Vankline ran for 133 yards in the win.
