On Wednesday, Sagemont faced the Riviera Prep Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sagemont took a hard 79-63 fall against Riviera Prep. Sagemont's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Sagemont still got an impressive performance from Patrick Liburd, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Kevin Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
It was another big night for Dante Allen, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Riviera Prep. Allen hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Gustavo Guimaraes Alves, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Sagemont bumped their record down to 13-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Riviera Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Sagemont's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Worth at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Lake Worth has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 389 points over their last six contests. As for Riviera Prep, they will face off against Winter Haven at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Winter Haven is ranked 41st, while Riviera Prep is ranked 61st).
