The Alhambra Bulldogs will face off against the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Alhambra took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against College Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons on Thursday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 29th.

Willa Adler made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Brady, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Angelina Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Alhambra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Berkeley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past Cloverdale 11-3 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their two-run performance the match before.
Berkeley let Mia Kaufman and Camil Babij Ross run wild. Kaufman went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Babij Ross went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Pritchard, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.
Berkeley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-15. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alhambra, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.
Alhambra's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Berkeley, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Alhambra continue to outrun the ball?
