The Damien Spartans will head out to face off against the Chino Hills Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Damien barely beat Upland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Highlanders/Scots with a sharp 35-14 win on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Highlanders/Scots are ranked 162nd).

Damien got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Arriaza out in front who threw for 216 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 48 yards and one score. Travon Garrison Jr was in the mix too, providing the Spartans with two TDs.
Meanwhile, Chino Hills waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 33-19.
Damien better focus on containing Jacob Jimenez and Alex Medyn as the pair were huge in Chino Hills' win. Jimenez rushed for 97 yards and three scores, while Medyn rushed for 88 yards on only eight carries. Those 88 rushing yards gave Medyn a new career-high.
Chino Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.
One reason for the win was Chino Hills' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cayden Beyer, Jacob Baker, and Andrew Baldomino, who each picked up one sack apiece. Chino Hills received some extra help from Beyer, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Damien's record is now 7-1. As for Chino Hills, their record now sits at 6-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Damien has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 270.8 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Chino Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 158.1 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Damien came out on top in a nail-biter against Chino Hills in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 20-17. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Medyn, who rushed for ten yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 271 yards on 16 of 28 attempts. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Spartans still be able to contain Medyn? There's only one way to find out.
