The Orestimba Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Waterford at home to the tune of 100-29. The win was familiar territory for Orestimba who now have eight in a row.
Blake Melo was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Nathan Archuleta was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Waterford saw an underclassman step up: Izaiah Sanchez scored 11 points. Sanchez scored a full 37.9% of Waterford's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Christian Gayle, who scored seven points.
Orestimba's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Waterford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Orestimba won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Livermore at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Livermore is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to face off against Le Grand at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Le Grand has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
