The Howell Highlanders will take on the Frankenmuth Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Howell has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Frankenmuth will come in with seven straight victories.
Howell saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Utica Ford by a score of 4-3.
Lara Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Easton Lavery, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Frankenmuth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They beat Garber by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-7.
Chloe Compau made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bri Barker, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Emma Sprowl was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Frankenmuth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garber only managed six hits.
Frankenmuth's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Howell, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10-1.
Both Howell and Frankenmuth just can't seem to miss. The Highlanders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Frankenmuth struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
