Marcella Terrazas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Stephanie Gras was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Marquez. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by just one run.
Not much got past Madesyn Meadows, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Marquez off the board.
On the hitting side, Verdugo Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Brink, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Verdugo Hills' victory bumped their record up to 12-9-1. As for Eagle Rock, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
Eagle Rock's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Verdugo Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eagle Rock continue to outrun the ball?
Eagle Rock beat Verdugo Hills 3-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
