The Nicolet Knights will face off against the Arrowhead Warhawks on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Nicolet is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Hamilton. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Hayden Konczal was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May. Brock Stuck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Whitefish Bay typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Arrowhead proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Blue Dukes. Arrowhead's victory was all the more impressive since the Blue Dukes were averaging only 3.54 runs allowed on the season.
Jacob Madlung made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arrowhead is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-14 otherwise. Madlung was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, Bryce Henschel was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Niko Frangopoulos, who went 2-for-5 with one home run.
Arrowhead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitefish Bay only managed five.
Arrowhead's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Nicolet, their victory bumped their record up to 17-12.
