Football Recap: Mojave Wins High-Profile Contest Against Centennial + How To Watch

Mojave faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rattlers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 27-16. For the Rattlers, this counts as revenge for the 42-14 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

A big part of Mojave's victory came down to the chemistry between S'Marion Coleman and his top target RaJahn Butler. Coleman picked up 247 receiving yards and two scores while Butler rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Those 247 receiving yards gave Coleman a new career-high.

Mojave didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Centennial to a completion percentage of just 40.9%. The team can thank Demico Zamora for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mojave wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 52%.

Mojave's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Zechariah Johnson was the leader with two. Mojave is 2-1 when Johnson posts one or more sacks, but 2-4 otherwise. Cedrick Stubblefield was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defending two passes.

Despite the loss, Centennial still got an impressive performance from Brogan Church, who rushed for 175 yards and one TD while picking up 10.3 yards per carry.

Mojave has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.8 points over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Mojave has already played their next game, a 34-10 victory against Palo Verde on the 24th. As for Centennial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 52-41 win against Somerset Academy Losee on the 24th.
