Last Thursday, Piper was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Lauderdale, taking the game 42-34. The win was just what Piper needed coming off of a 61-16 loss in their prior matchup.
Piper found their leader in underclassman Catalina Robilio, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Robilio scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazell Charles, who scored ten points.
Pompano Beach won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-49 walloping at the hands of Coconut Creek. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Pompano Beach has suffered against Coconut Creek since January 25, 2016.
Sydney Lumpkins put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 29 points. Ella Paterson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Piper's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Pompano Beach, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
