Given Stephens County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Oconee County is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stephens County's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Franklin County and 2-8 Dawson County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38% over those games). As for Oconee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Stephens County will head out on the road to face off against Hebron Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Devon Caldwell and Javin Gordon. As for Oconee County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25.
