Overton is 1-9 against Cane Ridge since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Overton Bobcats will get right back to it and host the Cane Ridge Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Overton will be strutting in after a win while Cane Ridge will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Overton strolled past McGavock with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. Given Overton's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while McGavock is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Overton had a senior duo take command as Kyree Christian scored 27 points and William Carter scored 26 points.
Meanwhile, Cane Ridge came up short against Hillsboro on Thursday and fell 56-49.
Overton's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Cane Ridge, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.
Overton came out on top in a nail-biter against Cane Ridge in their previous matchup on January 9th, sneaking past 68-66. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cane Ridge's Da'ron Hall, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Overton still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
