Grace Wallis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.
At the plate, Carlee Tubbs was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season. Molly May was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Brandon suffered their closest defeat since March 28, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Florence by a score of 5-3.
Brandon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Jo Sullivan, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Brandon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Northwest Rankin's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Brandon, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northwest Rankin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Brandon struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
