Portage moved up to 273 from 309 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Western Pennsylvania [WPAC]. A 48-14 win over Rockwood helped the Mustangs improve their standing.
Berlin Brothersvalley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating North Star, 28-19. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Mountaineers.
Ferndale's dynamic duo of Chad Eisenhuth and Isaiah Sajatovich proved tough for Meyersdale to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eisenhuth threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns and Sajatovich had 91 yards receiving. Tyler Hileman helped Ferndale's passing attack out by catching three balls for 43 yards.
Tanner Cahill was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 31 carries, he ran for 150 yards as Conemaugh Township lost to the Red Raiders. Bruno Rosa also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback Eisenhuth of Ferndale is the league leader in passing yards this season with 690. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Shade's Brock Medva has rushed for 939 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Barkley. The Windber star has 22 catches for 287 yards.
Medva of the the Panthers is only 61 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Portage takes on Blacklick Valley. At the moment, Gary Gouse's team is in third, while the Vikings are in fourth.
Blacklick Valley and the Indians played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Blacklick Valley eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory.
