Fruitdale hasn't had much luck against Washington County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fruitdale Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Washington County Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fruitdale and Chickasaw meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Fruitdale put the hurt on Chickasaw with a sharp 19-3 victory.
The team relied heavily on Jacey Frazier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Loper, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Fruitdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .941. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington County). Everything went their way against Clarke County on Thursday as Washington County made off with an 18-1 win. Washington County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
Allie Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Rylee Snow was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Maddie McKinley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Fruitdale's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Washington County, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
