The Four Corners Coyotes will head out on the road to challenge the Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Four Corners is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
After only 20 points in their last match, Four Corners made sure to put some points up on the board against Bell Creek Academy on Friday. Four Corners enjoyed a cozy 63-45 win over Bell Creek Academy. Four Corners' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Four Corners' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karina Cruz, who scored 18 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielys Pena Ponce, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They really took it to Oasis Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-22 win at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy can attribute much of their success to Stephanie Morales, who scored ten points along with nine steals and eight assists, and Chelsse Jean-Giles, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Morales posted eight or more assists.
Four Corners' victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Four Corners have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 13.4 rebounds per game. Given Four Corners' sizeable advantage in that area, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
