The Yulee Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Fernandina Beach Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yulee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Pirates like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Yulee was fully in charge, breezing past the Warriors 60-30 on the road.
Yulee's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Logan Sellers, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Alex Naumow, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Sellers grabbed two or more steals. Jycere Richardson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Fernandina Beach was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-39 to the Saints. Fernandina Beach has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The victory got Yulee back to even at 12-12. As for Fernandina Beach, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.
Yulee came up short against the Pirates in their previous meeting back in January, falling 55-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fernandina Beach's Miles Townsend, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Now that Yulee knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
