Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact The Covenant Eagles proved on Thursday. They took down Fishburne Military 59-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for The Covenant.
The Covenant found their leader in underclassman Luke Breslin, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Breslin scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Bachman, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Fishburne Military still got an impressive performance from Giovanni Belisle, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Belisle pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Allyn Koger, who scored six points along with eight blocks and six rebounds.
The Covenant's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3. As for Fishburne Military, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
The Covenant will head out on the road to face off against Wilson Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fishburne Military is on the road again on Saturday and play against Strasburg at 11:00 a.m. on December 16th.
