The Rensselaer Central Bombers will take on the Hebron Hawks at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Rensselaer Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Rensselaer Central made easy work of North White and carried off a 15-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bombers.
Kami Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Rensselaer Central let Stacia Crabtree and Taylor Weems run wild. Crabtree went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Weems went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs Weems has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Laney Westfall, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Rensselaer Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Hebron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They came up short against Morgan Township, falling 10-4.
Savanna Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Hebron saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Weirich, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Hebron's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Rensselaer Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Hebron's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rensselaer Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Hebron, though, as they've been averaging 12.2 hits. Given Rensselaer Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rensselaer Central got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Hebron by a conclusive 14-5 score. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
