East Lake extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 19-3. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes, sneaking past 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Hurricanes back in March, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.
Lucy Mondok was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Danni Scali was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
East Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
As for Palm Harbor University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered against East Lake since February 24, 2022.
Like East Lake, Palm Harbor University also got a great game from a two-way player: Mylie Stout. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Stout was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Gill made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
East Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palm Harbor University, they will face off against Calvary Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hurricanes 3.3, the Warriors 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
