The Weber Warriors will challenge the Malad Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Weber has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Malad will come in with five straight victories.
Weber couldn't beat Westlake on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Warriors lost 20-10 to the Thunder.
Morgan Dixon made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Ari Hillan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Malad made easy work of Sugar-Salem on Tuesday and carried off a 7-1 win. Considering the Dragons have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Liddia Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stella Merja was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Harlee Maddox, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Malad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Malad's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Weber, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Weber hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
