The Coventry Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Norton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Coventry's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Norton has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Coventry earned a 51-38 win over Springfield. Given Coventry's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Springfield is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coventry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reggie Edwards, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Ryan Dinan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Norton sidestepped Woodridge for a 48-45 win.
Coventry's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Norton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Coventry didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Norton when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 45-41 win. Will Coventry repeat their success, or does Norton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
