Mt. Zion has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Woodland Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Mt. Zion pushed their score all the way to 65 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Luella by a score of 67-65.
Woodland lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Pace Academy 70-40. While losing is never fun, Woodland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Knights are ranked 12th).
Despite the defeat, Woodland got a solid performance out of Mason Lewis, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played.
Mt. Zion has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Woodland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
Mt. Zion came up short against the Wolfpack in their previous meeting back in January, falling 59-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lewis, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Now that Mt. Zion knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
