St. Augustine snuck past Cathedral Catholic with a 27-21 victory. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but St. Augustine was the better team in the second half.
St. Augustine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Johnson out in front who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. St. Augustine also got help from Isaiah Hasten who showed off his sure hands for 129 receiving yards.
The victory makes it two in a row for St. Augustine and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points per game. As for Cathedral Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will take on Mira Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Mira Mesa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while St. Augustine is ranked 77th). As for Cathedral Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ramona at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
