Meanwhile, Discovery Canyon made easy work of Thomas Jefferson on Friday and carried off a 13-4 victory. Fans of the Thunder have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Andrew Torres looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Jaxon Ross was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jake Cody, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Discovery Canyon pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
