Glenwood is 0-6-1 against Eastern since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Glenwood has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Glenwood's offense. They lost 12-0 to Clay on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Eastern got the win against Western on Monday by a conclusive 23-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kenleigh Bapst made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Libby Poorman, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Poorman a new career-high. Lynnleigh McCollister was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Eastern pushed their record up to 16-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Glenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Glenwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Glenwood might still be hurting after the 28-2 defeat they got from Eastern in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
