After flying high against the Leechburg Blue Devils last Friday, the Clairton Bears came back down to earth. Clairton took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jeannette on Tuesday. Clairton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jeannette apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Jeannette's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Powell led the charge by scoring 16 points. Powell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Xavier Odorisio was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Clairton's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Jeannette, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4.
Clairton will challenge Greensburg Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greensburg Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Clairton likes a good challenge. As for Jeannette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Springdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Springdale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Jeannette likes a good challenge.
