Basketball Recap: Cason Amerson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Corinth Christian Academy over First Assembly Christian Academy

Corinth Christian Academy lost against First Assembly Christian Academy back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Corinth Christian Academy Warriors lost 62-40 to the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.

Corinth Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cason Amerson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Amerson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Peyton Smith was another key player, putting up 12 points.

First Assembly Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sean James, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Kevin Gimenez, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points.

Corinth Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corinth Christian Academy will take on Northside Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Assembly Christian Academy and Ocala Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
