Baseball Recap: Harbor Light Christian Extends Winning Streak to 11

Harbor Light Christian had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Cheboygan Chiefs as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Swordsmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Porter Jacklitch, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Rose, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Harbor Light Christian pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cheboygan, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Harbor Light Christian will be playing at home against Traverse City Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Swordsmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabres have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Cheboygan, they are taking a road trip to square off against Boyne City at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
