Powell is a perfect 5-0 against West since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will face off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Powell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Powell was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Karns on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Beavers 11-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Langston Coggins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Madison Crawley was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Macie Overton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, West waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Cougars.
Like Powell, West also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooke Weaver. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Claire Davenport was incredible, firing off three triples and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Joli Bush, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Powell's record now sits at 15-5. As for West, their record is now 12-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Powell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Powell skirted past West 6-5 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
