Softball Recap: Roosevelt Wins Going Away Against Carlson

Roosevelt hadn't done well against Carlson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bears blew past the Marauders 13-7. Considering the Bears have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shaylan Gourlay was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton Sabo, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carlson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt will challenge rival Trenton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Carlson is set to face off against their familiar foe Taylor at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
