The Ansonia Tigers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Coldwater Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ansonia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 668th, while Coldwater is ranked 19th).
Ansonia had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 48-43 W over Twin Valley South on Friday. The win was just what Ansonia needed coming off of a 67-45 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Coldwater put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Ayersville with a sharp 65-44 win. Coldwater's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ansonia's record is now 2-4. As for Coldwater, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Ansonia barely slipped by Coldwater when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 44-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ansonia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
