The East Lyme Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The match between East Lyme and Fitch wasn't particularly close, with East Lyme falling 34-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Lyme in their matchups with Fitch: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, East Lyme still got an impressive performance from Aidan Patterson, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown. Patterson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Fitch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Perry, who rushed for 78 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 51 yards and a touchdown. Fitch also got a significant boost from Devin Cook, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
East Lyme now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Fitch, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, East Lyme and Waterford will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Waterford is ranked 118th, while East Lyme is ranked 93rd). Fitch will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ledyard at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd.
