Football Recap: Fremd Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Fremd had won three straight games and Lily Mayer did her part to make it four on Friday. The Vikings blew past the Wauconda Bulldogs, posting a 35-6 win with plenty of help from Mayer, who threw for 281 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes, and also rushed for 55 yards. Her passing game has become a key predictor of Fremd's success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Fremd's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Payton Kemeny and MacKenzie Drake, who racked up all four sacks between them. Drake is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Christina Angerame got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Fremd's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Wauconda, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Fremd has already played their next matchup, a 33-12 defeat against Carmel on the 20th. As for Wauconda, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-14 win against Addison Trail on the 20th.
