The Hamburg Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Daniel Boone Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamburg will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Hamburg got the win against Berks Catholic by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Daniel Boone not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 15-0). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over Antietam. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blazers.
Aubrey Garman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Garman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Daniel Boone got a massive performance out of Vanessa Eardley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Eardley a new career-high. Tirzah Fekelman was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Daniel Boone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hamburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Daniel Boone, their record now sits at 3-13.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hamburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .524. However, it's not like Daniel Boone struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hamburg took their victory against Daniel Boone when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 16-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
