Heart of Illinois recap October 22, 2013
Conrad Thomas of Fisher ran for the longest rushing play in Heart of Illinois this season against Deer Creek-Mackinaw last week. Thomas' team topped the Chiefs as he sprinted for 78 yards on the play and finished with 371 in all.
Flanagan/Woodland scaled the state rankings by moving to 331 from 367 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of defeating LeRoy 60-29.
Lexington's dynamic duo of Andy Jolly and Logan Kolat proved to be unstoppable against South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jolly threw for 109 yards and 1 touchdown and Kolat had 69 yards receiving. Ted Lingle helped Lexington's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 16 yards.
Mario Partida-Orozco made the biggest impact on defense this week as Fisher bested Deer Creek-Mackinaw. He recorded 1 fumble.
Thomas was a force in the backfield as Matt Leng's team bested Job Linboom's team.
Thomas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bunnies defeated the Chiefs.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Lingle. The Lexington star has 26 catches for 347 yards.
Fisher's Thomas needs only 38 yards against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 122 carries Thomas has put up 962 yards this year.
At the moment, the Falcons are in third, while the Bunnies are in fourth.
Tri-Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ridgeview, 62-8. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
